Elvin R. “Al” Bumpers, 77, of Orange Park, FL passed away Friday, April 18, 2008. Mr. Bumpers was born to parents, Jay Sr. and Alda Bumpers on July 1, 1930 in Donora, PA, and moved to Orange Park in 1976, from Charlotte, NC. Al honorably served his nation in The United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. Also, he was a lifelong employee of for C.A. Hackett, Inc, a metal reclaiming company, and he was an avid fisherman. Mr. Bumpers was preceded in death by his parents; and by one daughter, Susan Bumpers; his brother, Jay Bumpers, Jr.; and two sisters, Wilda Bumpers Costa and Nancy Bumpers. He is survived by his beloved wife of forty years, Violet Bumpers; two children: Carol Alda and Robbie Bumpers (Sherry); one sister, Philomena Durfee (Raymond); and two grandchildren: Kyle and Kane.
