Frances Marie Morgan Fresh

Frances Marie Morgan Fresh passed away on July 30, 2013 after a long illness in her home. She was born March 18, 1926 in Leesburg, Florida to Frank Edgar and Marie Fussell Morgan. She graduated from Winter Haven High School class of 1943, attended Florida Women’s College in Tallahassee, FL for two years (1944-46), before graduating from UNC Chapel Hill as a member of Theta Psi Epsilon National Honor Society in 1948 with a BS in Chemistry. Frances married James William Fresh on December 28, 1957. She was predeceased by her husband in 2000. She is survived by two children, Alexander Morgan Fresh, Orange Park, FL and Elinore Lee Fresh, Gainesville, FL; cousin, Freda Chain Creech (Harold), J Greystoke (Françoise) and Kristin Manley (Jerry); sister in law, Elinore Fresh McCaskill; nieces, Sue Griffin (Jose) and Jane Rock (Bobby). Frances lived in Taipei, Taiwan from 1962-69, Alameda, California from 1969-1971, Cairo, Egypt from 1971-75, before moving to Fleming Island, Florida in 1975. During the 1980’s and 90’s Frances was an active member of her community. She volunteered with the Clay County Council on the Aging’s Meals on Wheels Program, Clay County Library Board, Fleming Island Advisory Committee, and the Fleming Island Volunteer Fire Department as secretary. She also served as President of the Village Improvement Association (VIA) in Green Cove Springs, Florida. Frances was a 52 year member of the Daughter’s of the American Revolution (DAR). In addition to serving as Regent, Frances also served as Vice Regent, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary and Librarian. Frances was a founding member of the Fleming Island United Methodist Church and most recently attended the First United Methodist Church in Green Cove Springs, FL. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Fleming Island United Methodist Church 7170 U.S. 17, Fleming Island, FL 32003 In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida.
