Thomas Caldwell, 60, of Middleburg, FL passed away August 25, 2013 at his residence. He was born on December 27, 1952 in Demopolis, AL and had lived in Clay County since 1968. Mr. Caldwell loved baseball, surfing and the Alabama “Tide” as well as being outdoors. He had coached Pop Warner Football when his son, Rocky, was younger and is still affectionately known as “Coach Tom” to all those he coached. Mr. Caldwell had been a truck driver by trade and retired from Florida Rock Tank Lines. He was predeceased by his mother, Doris Stevens Maloy; father, Elmer Buren “Boots” McDowell; and brothers, Robert McDowell and Jack McDowell. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Mary (Brock) Caldwell; beloved son, Rocky (Kay) Caldwell; adoring grandchildren, Jason, Katie and Rocky Jr “RJ”. He was loved and adored by his nieces and nephews, Natalie Hunter, Rebecca Brock, Anthony Granham, Creg Ponchk, Jimmy Brock, Jessica Owens, Christal Owens, Tatila Brock, Javon Brock, Ashley Lee & Bree Lee. The family will receive friends at Broadus-Raines Funeral Home Friday August 30, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 31, 2013 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel.
