Donald Daniel Hamachek, Sr., 92, of Fleming Island, FL passed away peacefully on Monday, August 26, 2013. He was born on August 25, 1921 to parents Joseph W. and Albina Danek Hamachek in Chicago, IL. Mr. Hamachek proudly and honorably served his nation in The United States Coast Guard during WWII. He has lived in Florida since 2008, was of the Catholic faith and attended St. Luke's Catholic Church. Mr. Hamachek was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Annabelle Elizabeth Hamachek the love of his life; two sons, Donald D. (Jean) Hamachek, Jr. and Craig L. (Jan) Hamachek; two daughters, Annabelle “Ellen” Hamachek and Christy L. (Jack) Koban; two sisters, Faye Applehans and Almira Behrendt; nine grandchildren, Gwen, Amy, Tracy, Courtnay, Craig, Jr., Amanda, Blake, Jack, Jr. and Danny and 14 great grandchildren. A Memorial Mass will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at St. Luke's Catholic Church with Reverend Andy Blaszkowski as celebrant. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to St. Luke's Parish Growth Fund, 1608 Blanding Blvd., Middleburg, FL 32068; Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.com; St. Jude Children's Hospital at www.st.jude.org; Clay County Humane Society at www.clayhumane.org or the Disabled American Veterans at www.dav.org.
