Jane Carol Thurmond Hickox, 71, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2008. She was born in Umatilla, Florida, lived most of her life in Jacksonville and relocated to her dream home in Orangedale, Florida 12 years ago.
She is survived by her loving husband, Raphard Ellis Hickox, two daughters, Brenda Gayle Dooley (Ralph E.) and Brenda Ann Hickox, sons, Ralph Larry Hodges and Brian Kelly Hodges, one sister, Melissa Workman (David Sr.), four grandchildren, Christopher Streett, Lindsay Dooley, Raphard Noah Hickox-Moody and David Hodges. One great grandchild, Alyssa Streett and two nephews, David Workman and Donald Workman, all of Jacksonville.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ray Sinclair Thurmond and Winifred Thurmond Williams. Jane graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1954. She was employed for several years by the City of Jacksonville, although she fondly remembered her job with Publix Supermarket as her favorite. Jane enjoyed family, friends, shopping, was a volunteer for Hope Haven and a member of The Daughters of the Nile Masonic Sorority.
The family will receive friends between 6:00 p.m and 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at Broadus-Raines Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday May 7, 2008 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel with Reverend James Branch officiating. Graveside service to follow at Orangedale Cemetery.
