Clay County Deputy Sheriff Dennis A. Urban “E444”, 57, of Orange Park, FL, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2008. He was born on September 29, 1950 in St. Louis, MO. Deputy Urban was a retired Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy, having served his country for 24 years as well as being a Vietnam War Veteran. Following his military career, he began his second career in 1988 as a Deputy Sheriff with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office. He loved motorcycles and was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #104. He will be dearly missed by his loving family and friends. Survivors include his mother, Virginia Bludworth of Sanford, FL; children, Dennis Urban, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL and Deanna Oram (Clifford) of Pensacola, FL; sisters, Kathy Patterson of Milwaukee, WI, Julie Diebert of Temecula, CA and Brenda Torello of Half Moon Bay, CA and grandchildren, Christopher Chase Urban, Tanner Lee Urban, Jamie Cole and Brett Oram. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at Broadus-Raines Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, May 8, 2008 at Russell Baptist Church with Reverend Ron Baker officiating. Full police honors will be conferred at the service.
