Jacob "Jim" Kossuth passed away on September 8, 2013 surrounded by family and friends at the Pavilion of Penney Retirement Community. After many years of battling Parkinson's disease, and congestive heart failure of late, his final day was swift, painless and peaceful. Jim was born on July 31, 1937 in Powellton, West Virginia. On June 29, 1963 he married the love of his life, Kathryn. Together they raised their two children in Lexington, Kentucky where he became a die-hard University of Kentucky Basketball fan. He spent his entire career working in Publications for IBM. After spending many winters in Northern Florida, Jim and Kathryn moved to Green Cove Springs, Florida in 2005. Jim fully embraced his new life as a member of the Magnolia Point Golf and Country Club family and became an active member of the Christian community at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was honored to serve as both a volunteer and Board Member of Challenge Enterprises. He also enjoyed his time as a volunteer for J.P. Hall Children's Charities, the Men's Group at Sacred Heart Church, and as an Usher at Sacred Heart. Jim was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
Jim is survived by Kathryn Ferris Kossuth, his cherished wife of 50 years; his two adored children Rose Marie Fitzgerald, son-in-law, Scott R. Fitzgerald of Dallas, Texas, and Michael James Kossuth of West Chester, Ohio; and cherished grandchildren Emily Ferris Fitzgerald, Jackson Scott Fitzgerald, Jacob Cole Kossuth, and Jonathon Thomas Kossuth. Jim is survived by four sisters: Katherine Mack of Indiana, Thelma Cunningham of Missouri, Betty Jo Groscup of West Virginia, and Glenice Perry of Ohio. He is also survived by his much loved sisters and brothers in-laws Frances and Anthony Ferris, Thresa and Jay Oliverio, and Roselie and Paul Price; as well as his many nieces and nephews.
