Clayton Thomas Dukes, Sr., 99, of Middleburg, FL, passed away October 25, 2013. He was born on March 17, 1914 in Willie, GA to parents John and Effie May Monroe Dukes. Mr. Dukes was a World War II Veteran, serving his country in the United States Army Air Corps. He was a Bronze Star recipient and was the oldest known living Flying Tiger in the United States from WWII. He had lived in the local area since 1960, moving from Jacksonville, FL. Mr. Dukes was a self-employed photographer and was very active in politics; loved saltwater fishing; agriculture; gardening and was a visionary. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Orange Park and he will be dearly missed by his family that he loved so much. Mr. Dukes was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lois E. Arnold Dukes; sons, Clayton T. Dukes, Jr. (Marsha) and Charles A. Dukes; daughters, Carol Moskowitz, Ellen Connolly, Pat Birmingham (Don) and Sandra Like; sister, Juanita Drage; 15 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, October 30, 2013 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel with Rev. David Zink officiating. Visitation will be in the chapel from 10:00 am until service time.
