Jerry Wayne Smith

Jerry Wayne Smith, 67, of Green Cove Springs, FL passed away June 9, 2008. Mr. Smith was born the third of fifteen children to parents Madison and Irene Smith on February 7, 1941 in Fayetteville, TN. He moved to Florida in the late 1950’s and to the Green Cove Springs area in the early 1970’s. Jerry Wayne was a member of Beulah Baptist Church and worked in the farming industry. He had been a member of Clay County Cattleman’s Association since the mid 1970’s and was a past President and also served on the Board of Directors. Jerry Wayne was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling. He touched a lot of lives and will be dearly missed. Jerry Wayne was preceded in death by his beloved wife of thirty eight years, Joyce Smith; and by his parents, and three brothers: Eddie, Eugene, and Clyde Smith. He is survived by three children: Rose Logan (John) of TN, Jeffery Wayne Smith (Rebecca) and Johnny Mack Smith (Carol), both of FL; eleven brothers and sisters: Marie Todd (Donald) of AL, Bobby Smith of TN, Faye White (Jack) of MS, Katherine Nelson (D.L.) of AL, Joe Smith (Johnnie Faye) of TN, Nancy Floyd (Allen) of AL, Martha Cuffle (Terry) of FL, Gary Smith of TN, Darlene Woods (Johnny) of TN, and twins: Ronnie (Nyla) Smith and Donnie Smith of TN; sister-in-law, Terri Smith of TN; six grandchildren: Jacquelyn, Nicholas, Chris, Jacob, Amanda, and Hope; and four great-grandchildren: Luke, Wyatt, Faith, and Tyler. The family will receive friends in the Broadus-Raines Chapel on Wednesday, June 11, 2008 from 5:00 until 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held in the Broadus-Raines Chapel on Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 10:00 am officiated by Reverend James Tomlinson. Interment will follow in Penney Farms Cemetery.
