Russell Arthur (Rusty) Dickerson, 66, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away November 22, 2013. He was born on January 5, 1947 in Roanoke, VA to parents Joseph and Virginia Pruitt Dickerson. Mr. Dickerson was a Vietnam War Veteran, having served in the United States Navy and was one of the most highly decorated enlisted men by Admiral Kelso in 1982. Rusty lived in the local area since 1981, moving here from Greenville, Alabama. He was a professional singer who loved music and performed as an Elvis impersonator in Las Vegas for many years. He also appeared on many Jerry Lewis telethons, The Oprah Winfrey Show and Good Morning America. Rusty loved show cars and trucks, and belonged to several auto clubs. Mr. Dickerson will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Rusty was preceded in death by his parents and his children, Russell Shawn Dickerson and Amber Lyn Dickerson. The interment of ashes at Jacksonville National Cemetery with military honors will be held at 2:30 pm Friday, December 6, 2013.
