William Edward Knight, a devoted husband, father, and Christian, entered God's kingdom on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at 7 am, at the age of 79. Born in Green Cove Springs, FL on January 23, 1934 to William and Pearl, William, known affectionately to his family and friends as Billy, spent most of his life in Green Cove, working for the city and Clay County. Billy was a committed Christian, strong in his Baptist faith, and he died peacefully, knowing he would soon meet his savior, Jesus Christ. He cherished the simple things in life, and family meant the most to him. Billy was a man of great character with a patient, loving, and kind demeanor. He had a love for horses, racing as a jockey in his early years. Billy is survived by his wife of 52 years, Glenda; two children, Bill and Leanne; sister, Jerry; grandchildren, Will, William, Kayleigh, Michael, and Ryann; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his twin brother, Bobby and sisters, Kathleen, Thelma, and Anita. Although Billy closed his eyes for the last time on earth, he opened his eyes to something greater than we can imagine. We will celebrate and remember the life of William Knight on Sunday, December 22, 2013 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm.
