George A. Campen, 82, died on June 21, 2008 at the Acosta-Rua Center for Caring. He was born in Kearny, NJ and was a Navy veteran of WWII. After working for Public Service Electric & Gas Co. for 39 years, he retired to Florida.
He was an accomplished saxophonist who performed professionally for over 60 years. He was a member of the F&A Masonic Lodge and the American Legion of Kearny, NJ. He also was a member of the VFW Post 5968 and the New Grace Anglican Church of Orange Park.
He is survived by Wilma, his wife of 61 years, a daughter, Sandra Treffinger, a son, William and his wife Susan Campen, two granddaughters, Seanna & Bryce, and their husbands, Ben Phelps & Jared Ellis, respectively, and Don, his brother.
After cremation, a memorial service will be held at the New Grace Anglican Church in Orange Park, on Thursday, June 26, 2008 at 11:00 am. In thanks for his life, a donation may be made to the Northeast Florida Community Hospice and would be greatly appreciated.
