Gail Courtland Kearns

Gail Courtland Kearns, 80, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2014. He was born on March 15, 1933 in Starke, FL to parents Thomas J. and Pearl Green Kearns. He was a life-long resident and a member of Hibernia Baptist Church. Gail was an avid Florida Gators fan who loved hunting and spending time with his family and friends. Mr. Kearns retired from State Farm Insurance after over 40 years of service. For 12 of these years, he served on the Board of Directors and was President for 3 years. He was a loving husband and dad and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife LaVesta Kearns; son, David Kearns (Karen); daughter, Karen Cercy (Dan); sisters, Jean DeSwarte and Kay Frances; grandchild, Christian Jaxon and great-grandchildren Daniel Reese Jaxon and Alexander Cercy. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Hibernia Baptist Church with Pastor Scott Yirka officiating.
