Henry Robert Davies, "Hank", was born on August 6, 1923 to Henry A. Davies and Helen (Robertson) Davies of Quincy, Massachusetts. He was the eldest of ten children. He graduated from Braintree High School in the class of 1941 and enjoyed playing on their football team. He attended Coyne Electrical School and completed his electrical apprenticeship at Bethlehem Steel in Quincy. Hank married the former Jeanette Pafford, "Jet", on March 5, 1943, just before leaving for basic training with the Army Airforce. They were childhood sweethearts, so Jet followed Hank to various bases before he was deployed to Europe. He served as a tail-gunner on a B24 and made 37 missions over Germany. His plane was shot down, crash landing on the Isle of Vis in the Adriatic Sea on December 3, 1944, the same day his first child was born back home. He and his crew were rescued by the Yugoslavian underground and eventually returned to their base in Italy, to the surprise of everyone as many had been lost on that mission. He served from March, 1943 until his return home in June, 1945. On Hank's return home in 1945 he was greeted by his wife and their 7-month old daughter, Cheryl. Soon there was another daughter, Marsha and then a third daughter, Denise. Hank and Jet were married for 66 years blissful years, first living in East Braintree and then moving to Tremont Street for the following 30 years. He was employed at Charles T. MAIN in Boston as an electrical engineer for 25 years, retiring at 60 when the company was bought out. He and his wife enjoyed square dancing and traveled to many places in the States and other countries. He also built antique reproduction furniture and painted in all various modalities. He was well-known for his gardening, and supplied fresh basil to many local restaurants. Hank was very active member at the South Shore Baptist Church in Hingham for many years, where he and his wife served God. He especially loved being the photographer for the church's Vacation Bible School because he loved children. He was also involved in the Seniors group, as well as the Men's Ministry. Hank's beloved wife Jet went home to be with the Lord on April 29, 2009. So he spent his last five years in Fleming Island, Florida with his daughter Cheryl and her husband, Dutch Scheierman. He enjoyed spending time with his shih tzu puppy who he named "Buddy"--his permanent lapdog. He loved watching football on tv, and especially his favorite team the Patriots. He enjoyed "doing" garage sales, going for car rides in the countryside or along the St Johns River, as well as talking to the neighbors, and watching for alligators & birds in the backyard pond or deer wandering through the yard. People loved visiting with Hank, and Hank loved everyone, but he was always waiting anxiously to join his dear wife Jet, where they are together now with their Lord Jesus Christ. Hank is survived by three brothers: John Davies & his wife, Kay, of Bridgewater; Arthur Davies & his wife, Ruby of Braintree; William Davies & his wife, Arlene of Bridgewater; and one sister, Beverly Lindquist & her husband, Joseph of Braintree.
