Martin J. "Scotty" Scott Jr.

Martin J. Scott Jr. “Scotty”, 68, of Middleburg, FL, passed away April 9, 2014. He was born on March 19, 1946 in San Diego, CA to Martin J. and Dorothy McCarty Scott. He served in the United States Navy for 6 years and was a member of the American Legion Post 250 and NAS JAX Golf Club. Scotty was a faithful servant of the Lord and was a member at Celebration Church where he was an usher and a member of the choir. Mr. Scott loved traveling, golfing and collecting sports cards and stamps. He especially cherished his time spent with his children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Aubrey Scott. Survived by his wife, Rhodera Scott; son, James M. Scott; daughters, Tracy L. Tenney (Peter), Julie M. Perata (Pete) and step-daughter, Antoinette Overfield (Tom); grandchildren, Nicole, Ashley, Andrew, Juelisa, Jordan and Zachary and great-grandchildren, Sadie, Rylee, Jameson and Kylie. A memorial service will be held with military honors rendered on Friday, April 18, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Celebration Church 512 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, FL 32073 with Rev. Wayne Lanier and Dr. Tim McDaniel officiating. Inurnment will be at 2:30 p.m., Monday, April 21, 2014 at Jacksonville National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations are made to Community Hospice of North East Florida or The American Cancer Society.
