Donald Bennett, 84, of Jacksonville, FL passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2014. He was born on August 13, 1929 in Cleveland, OH. Donald lived most of his life in Florida and was a 1948 graduate of Miami Edison High School. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. Donald was the President of The Fraternal Order of Eagles in Ocala, FL and was of the Methodist faith. Donald was a member of the Society of Fleet Supervisors with Southern Bell and retired after 33 years of service. He loved the outdoors, traveling and woodworking. His greatest joy was time spent with his loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Bennett and is survived by his son, James D. Bennett (Leigh); daughters, Sharon Katuin (Gary) and Margaret Acheson (Stephan); grandchildren, Stephanie (Rob), Erik (Courtney), Matthew (Sarah), Leif, Austin (Summer) and Megan; great granddaughter, Remedy Bennett; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews. Graveside services with inurnment will be held at Florida National Cemetery on Friday, April 25, 2014 at 1:30 pm with military honors conferred.
