Henrietta Woods Childers

Henrietta "Betty" Childers, 96, of Fleming Island, FL, passed away May 5, 2014, following a brief illness.  Betty, also known as "Betts," was born December 11, 1917 in Portsmouth, VA to Willie R. Woods and Emma C. Allen, who eventually settled in North Carolina to raise their family.  Betty raised her own family in Maryland, North Carolina and Florida. She is survived by her husband, Roy K. Childers, Sr., with whom she moved to Florida some fifty years ago.  Betty worked in real estate and later had her own business, Fleming Island Nursery.   She loved gardening and just being one with nature. Betty is predeceased by her daughter, Sharon Fink Enzor, her son, Charles H. Fink, Jr., and two grandchildren, Lisa Fink Wilson and Laura Etta James.  Surviving are sons, Richard A. Fink, Sr. (Vera), and Roy K. Childers, Jr. (Donna); daughters, Etta Fink Young (Harvey), and Sandy Fink Williams (Romey); son-in-law, Jerry L. Enzor; daughter-in-law, Barbara Y. Fink; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren; a brother, Allen C. Woods (Joanne); sisters, Frances Woods Cline, Thelma Woods Murr, Peggy Woods Cathey (Joe), and Clara Woods Shelton (C.L.); and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, May 9, 2014 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel with Dr. Tim McDaniel officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, charitable gifts may be made to Haven Hospice, 4200 NW 90th Blvd., Gainesville, FL 32606.
