Goldie McDaniel

Goldie McDaniel, 74, of Green Cove Springs, FL passed away Thursday, August 7, 2008. Born in Grundy, VA on August 16, 1933, she was the third oldest of ten children born to the late Dave and Susan Bowman. Mrs. McDaniel moved to Green Cove Springs forty four years ago and was a member of Little Ruth Old Regular Baptist Church. She was a former employee of Gustafson’s Dairy and enjoyed quilting and sewing. She also played and enjoyed music. Mrs. McDaniel was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Shorty McDaniel; one daughter, Glenda McDaniel; one brother, Junior Curtis Bowman; two sisters, Eula Faye Hawks and Allene Stiltner; and sister-in-law, Beverly Bowman. She is survived by four loving children: Billy McDaniel, Brenda Gilmore, Gerald (Linda) McDaniel, and Becky (Brian) Gamble; two sisters, Eva Ward and Martha Irene Horne; four brothers, Luther (Dorothy) Bowman, Elmer (Beverly) Bowman, Casby (Shirley) Bowman, and Roby (Stella) Bowman; one brother-in-law, Donald Hawks; one sister-in-law, Mary Bowman; eight grandchildren: Jeremy, Justin, Jessie, Katie, Thomas, Jake, Morgan, and Wyatt; and three great-grandchildren: Katherine, Cheyenne, and Paige. The family will receive friends in the chapel of Broadus-Raines Funeral Home on Sunday, August 10, 2008 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held in the Broadus-Raines Chapel on Monday, August 11, 2008 at 3:00 pm officiated by Brother Preston Hayes. Interment will follow in Little Ruth Cemetery.
