John P. Newman, 78, of Green Cove Springs, FL passed away June 6, 2014. He was born on January 23, 1936 in Savannah, TN to parents R.C. and Ora (Dickson) Newman. He had moved to Florida 42 years ago from Tennessee and had retired as Master Chief from the U. S. Navy after 21 years of faithful service. Mr. Newman continued to work as a civil service employee for another 24 years before retirement from there. He was an avid pilot in his younger years and was heavily involved in the E.A.A. Mr. Newman loved working on cars and could fix anything. He was devoted to his family and is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Edna F. Newman of Green Cove Springs, FL; daughter, JoAnna (Daron) Williams of Opelika, AL; grandsons, Alex and Andrew Williams; sister-in-law, Olene Newman; niece, Tammy Eberle and her family. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2014 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel.
