Paul Wester Tanner

Paul Wester Tanner passed away August 16, 2008 following a brief illness. Mr. Tanner was born in Jacksonville, FL on September 23, 1940 to Paul Clay and Mary Lee Wester Tanner. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Furman University, where he was a member of The Order of Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He was also a graduate student at Perdue University. Mr. Tanner was an active member of St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church-Hibernia, past Senior Warden of St. Anne’s Episcopal Church-Keystone Heights, and past Senior Warden of the Church of the Epiphany-Jacksonville. He was the Owner/CEO of Paul Tanner and Associates, former director of Ocala Housing Authority and the former Director of Public Housing for the City of Jacksonville. Mr. Tanner was an active member in Kiwanis Club on both a local and state level early in his career, and was a member of the Ocala Rotary Club. He was also an officer of the Fleming Island High School Booster Club. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Patricia “Pat” Roberts Tanner, his children Paul David Tanner (Mimi) of Houston, TX, Julia Tanner Leake (Tim) of Hollywood, MD, Michael Patrick Tanner of Fleming Island, FL, and his twin sisters Paula Tanner Knezha of Middleburg, FL and Jacquelyn Tanner Green of Asheville, NC, brother-in-laws, Joe H. Roberts, Martin Roberts, J. D. Phillips, sister-in-laws, Cindy Roberts, Diana Roberts and Priscilla Phillips. He is also survived by his grandchildren Grant Collier and Paul Lloyd Tanner of Houston, TX, and Alexandra Tanner and Catherine Elizabeth Leake of Hollywood, MD and a host of many other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2008 at 2:00pm at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church-Hibernia, Fleming Island, FL.
