Dennis Joe Gilbert

Dennis Joe Gilbert, 67, of Fleming Island, FL passed away July 2, 2014. He was born on January 3, 1947 in Grundy, VA to parents Jonah and Geneva (Hess) Gilbert. His family moved to Clay County when Dennis was just 3 month's old. He had been in the automobile business as a sales manager and had owned Gilbert's Auto Sales in St. Augustine from 1989 until 1995. Dennis loved the beach, fishing and family gatherings. He was predeceased by his parents, and a brother, Donald Gilbert. Survivors include his beloved wife of 50 years, Susie Gilbert; sons, Dennis J. Gilbert Jr., Gregory J. Gilbert; brother, Douglas (Teresa) Gilbert; sister, Patsy Dunlap; grandson, Gage Gilbert; many nieces, nephews and life-long friends. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2014 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel. Reverend Ronnie Surrency will officiate.
