Catherine “Kay” Garner, 89, of Jacksonville, FL passed away July 20, 2014. She was born in The Township of York, County of Stafford, State of Kansas on April 9, 1925 to parents, Arthur and Cannie (Cox) Tubbs. She moved to Jacksonville in 1951 with her late, beloved husband, Homer and their two daughters, Connie and Pat. Kay was a member of Mandarin United Methodist Church, the DAR, Eastern Star, Ladies of the Nile and was a co-founder of the Jacksonville Winnebago Motor Home Club. She was an awesome mom and when her girls were growing up, she loved driving them to practice, a school function or shopping for that perfect dress. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Homer Garner, in April of 1989; and three brothers. Survivors include her daughters, Connie Garner Taylor of St. Augustine, FL and Pat Garner Gardner of Jacksonville, FL; brother, Clinton Tubbs of Pleasant Hill, CA; grandchildren, Don Martin, Brian (Martha) Martin and Nicole (Jason) Gardner LaPointe; great-grandchildren, Max, Mason, Alexandra, Eliana, Nico, Mateo and Andres Martin; MaKenzie, Logan and Reese LaPointe; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A graveside service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Oaklawn Cemetery, 4801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207 with Rev. Deborah A. McLeod officiating.
