Oscar Beecham Kirk, Sr.

Oscar Beecham Kirk, Sr., 97, of Green Cove Springs, FL passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 30, 2014. He was born on March 13, 1917 to parents Oscar Beecham and Elba Claire (Stoddard) Kirk in Jacksonville, FL. Mr. Kirk proudly and honorably served his nation in The United States Army during WWII. He was a lifelong resident of Florida and was retired from Life of Georgia as a life insurance salesman. Oscar was a Shriner and a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason in Jacksonville Florida. He enjoyed his social time spent with his friends at the Council on Aging of Clay County and was an avid golfer. He loved traveling and going camping. His family said he was the spray paint duct tape king, he would say if its broken paint and tape would fix it. Oscar was a loving and caring father, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed by all who loved and cared for him. Mr. Kirk was preceded in death by his parents and by his beloved wife, Dorothy L. Kirk. Left behind to cherish his memories are his children, daughter, Judy King; son, Oscar B. Kirk, Jr. (Shirley); 5 grandchildren, Kirk D. Miracle, Sr., Lisa M. Jones (Dwight), Kenneth W. Miracle (Crystal), Janet Shatto (John) and David Kirk (Christie); 6 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 9, 2014 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel with Dr. Tim McDaniel officiating. Military honors will be conferred at the service.
