George Brinson McLane

George Brinson McLane, 79, of Doctors Inlet, FL, passed away August 7, 2014. He was born on April 5, 1935 in Punta Gorda, FL to parents Leon and Lillian Burdette McLane. Mr. McLane had worked as a police officer, retiring from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office after 30 years of service. He was a member of the F.O.P and Decoy Baptist Church. Mr. McLane liked to camp and raising his birds. He will be dearly missed by his loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Shirley McLane; sons, Michael Allen McLane and Kenneth Wayne McLane (Kathi); brother, Cline Leon McLane (Jean); sister, Omergene Brooks (Bill); grandchildren, Shayne and Travis McLane and great-grandchildren, Hallie and Leihm McLane. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Monday, August 11, 2014 at Broadus-Raines Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at Decoy Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Baker officiating. Interment with Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office honors will follow at Decoy Cemetery.
