Alfred Price Fields

Alfred Price Fields, 85, of Green Cove Springs, FL passed away Friday, September 26, 2008. Mr. Fields was born to Leon Isaac and Ocie Lee Fields on June 24, 1923. He came to Green Cove over fifty years ago after living in Dickenson County and Buchanan County, VA. He honorably served his nation during World War II in The United States Navy aboard the USS Whitehurst Destroyer. Later, he began a career as an electrician and retired from Georgia Pacific after twenty seven years of dedicated service. Mr. Fields also served as a preacher with The Union Association of Old Regular Baptists of Jesus Christ and was a member of Little Ruth Church. Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Ocie; one son, Gary Dennis Fields; and a sister, Casandra Varden Fields-Butler. Survivors include his beloved wife of sixty three years, Jessie “Charlene” Mullins-Fields; son, Michael “Wayne” Fields, and his wife Donna; brothers, Elmer “Clyde” Fields and James Riley Fields; sister, Thelma “June” Fields-Wolfe; daughter-in-law, Janice Marie Rowe-Fields; six grandchildren, Dennis, Michael, Amanda, Daniel, Jessica, and Scott; and nine great-grandchildren: Gage, Hunter, Tristan, Jade, Logan, Drake, Madison, Cadence, and Ava. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 28, 2008 at Little Ruth Church from 5:00 until 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 29, 2008 at 11:00 am at Little Ruth Church officiated by Elders Terry Fuller, Richard Lowe, and Doug McCarty.
