Kathryn Elizabeth Foxworth Stone, 86, was born in Kingstree, the South Carolina low country, on January 10, 1928 to Preston Newton Foxworth and Grace McDaniel Foxworth. She graduated from high school as a National Honorary Scholar. After graduation, she moved to St. Augustine, Florida to live with family and work as a switchboard operator for the Bell Telephone Company. She met her future husband, Harry Clinton Stone, at the First Methodist Church of St. Augustine. Their marriage of 57 years led the couple on many loving adventures and produced three children: Harry James Stone (Melinda Mayfield), Lewis Wayne Stone (Sandra Belcher) and Janice Stone Leimberger (Tom Leimberger) as well as 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Kathryn lived a life devoted to Christian service, a strong work ethic and a loving dedication to family. She was blessed with the gifts of wisdom, discernment, hospitality and faith. Her famous Thanksgiving dinners and legendary desserts will be greatly missed. In retirement, Kate & Clint became part of the PRC community and were devoted volunteers - always finding ways to serve. Her friends know her to be steadfast and dependable. Her children and grandchildren know her to be a source of wisdom, love and compassion. She made sure her children had a devotional every New Year along with a sweet treat at Christmas. Our mom cannot be replaced in the lives of those who knew her but the memory of her wisdom, loving kindness and Christian faith will serve us forever.
