Barbara Eileen Rita Clegg Fitch

May 3, 1931 — October 18, 2014

Barbara Eileen Rita Clegg Fitch was surrounded by family in her home when she went to be with the Lord on October 18, 2014 at age 83 in Fleming Island, FL. She was born May 3, 1931 in Pittsburgh, PA to Frank and Viola Clegg. She graduated in Pre-Med from the University of Pittsburgh; and she worked at Presbyterian Hospital as a medical lab technician until she became a wife and mother. By far, her favorite job was loving and caring for her husband, children, grandchildren, dogs, grandogs, and grandcats. Anyone who knew Barbara knew how much she loved people and her devotion to family and friends. She loved celebrating holidays with family, sending cards to friends, and pampering her pets. Two of her favorite things was playing bridge and golf. She also loved to read, garden, and ride her bicycle. Barbara was a parishioner of Saint Catherine’s Catholic Church in Orange Park, Florida. She also belonged to the Eagle Harbor Bridge Club and the Red Hats. There are a lot of people who were impacted by her generous hospitality and the positive outlook she had on life. Barbara is survived by her husband of 58 years, Archer Fitch; son, Frank (Sharon) Fitch; daughter, Emily (Doug) Lipscomb; son Brian (Jami) Fitch and her four beloved grandchildren, Jennifer Lea Lipscomb, Erin Marie Fitch, Courtney Nicole Fitch, and Thomas Archer Lipscomb. She is also survived by her faithful and loving dog, Daisy Mae. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 23, 2014 at St. Catherine Siena Catholic Church, 1649 Kingsley Ave., Orange Park, FL 32073. The Rev. Jose Maniyangat will be the celebrant. The family will receive friends beginning an hour prior to the Mass. Interment will follow in Jacksonville Memory Gardens in Orange Park, FL. Please sign the family’s online guestbook at www.broadusraines.com. Barbara will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and countless others who will remember her kind heart. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial tributes be made to the Clay County Safe Animal Shelter. The family would also like to thank Dr. Murshid Al-Awady MD, Senior Helpers, Haven Hospice, and the staff from Life Care Center at Well’s Crossing.
