Etta Walsh passed away suddenly on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 in Orange Park, Florida. She was born in Newberry, Florida on December 28, 1923 to the parents of Joe and Nellie Davis.
Etta served the Women of the Moose as Grand Regent during the 1993-1994 Chapter year, Etta, a member of Middleburg, Florida Chapter 2029, joined Gainesville, Florida Chapter 1098 on October 20, 1952 and served in many capacities. Through her service to Gainesville Chapter, she received the Academy of Friendship degree in 1955, the College of Regents degree in 1961 and the Star Recorder degree in 1968.
For her dedication and commitment to the Women of the Moose, Etta was selected to serve as the Deputy Grand Regent for the state of Florida during the 1968-1969 Chapter year and in 1975 was appointed to serve on the Grand Council of the Women of the Moose. She served with respect and dignity until 1977.
Etta offered her assistance to many chapters throughout our fraternity and visited many States and Provinces while serving as an Official Visitor to Midyear and Annual Conferences. Her talents and caring ways were recognized by the International office of the Women of the Moose and in 1993 Etta was selected to serve in the highest appointed position within the Women of the Moose, that of Grand Regent.
Following her term as Grand Regent, Etta served on the Advisory Board of the Women of the Moose until 1999. Throughout her career, Etta sponsored 97 members into the Women of the Moose.
Etta was employed by Shands Hospital, in Gainesville, FL for 34 years as Assistant to the Chief Executive Officer. She retired in 1989.
Etta and her husband Otha, moved to Moosehaven in November of 1999. She remained active in the Women of the Moose throughout her residence at Moosehaven and was currently serving as Recorder of Opportunity Chapter. Otha preceded her in death in June of 2005.

She touched the lives of many, many members....personally, I am grateful for having had the opportunity to know her and to share a small part of her life. As with our other Past Grand Regents, she will live on in our hearts ....”
Etta is survived by her son Larue (Susan) Boyd of Evergreen Colorado and her daughter Carol Flanagan of Longwood, Florida.
