William Robert Kersey Sr.

William Kersey, 78, of Green Cove Springs, FL, passed away November 2, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his family and friends. He was born in Clay County on July 21, 1936 to parents Herman and Nellie (Durden) Kersey and was a life-long resident. He was retired from the Clay County Road Dept. Mr. Kersey enjoyed fishing, gardening, tinkering in his workshop and adored his dog Bridgett. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Edward Kersey. Mr. Kersey loved his family dearly and is survived by his wife, Geneva Kersey; sons, Bobby (John Woodruff) Kersey, David (Leslie) Kersey and Jimmy (Sheri) Kersey; daughters, Debbie (James) Mideke and Melanie (Keith) Wheeler; brother, Leon (B.J.) Kersey; sisters, Joanne (Benny) Godfrey, Joan (Melvin) Bullock and Kayron (Travis) Rakes; grandchildren, Scott, Cameron, Courtney, Brad, Ryan, Kimberly, Ginny, Heather, Megan, Justin, Taylor and Sarah; great-grandchildren, Violet, Chloe, Easton, Dakota, Leah, Grayson and Ava. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 6, 2014 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel. Interment will follow in Shiloh Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning the hour prior to service time. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Heartland Hospice.
