Marie S. Hughes

Marie S. Hughes, 91, of Green Cove Springs, FL, passed away November 11, 2014. She was born on April 23, 1923 in Stearns, KY to parents, Rosier and Millie Webb Spurling. She had been the owner of an auto parts store and had lived in the local area since 1999, moving here from Clewiston, FL. She was a member of 1st United Pentecostal Church of Green Cove Springs and loved cooking, gardening, yard sales, her church family and especially her grand, great-grand and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, Ernest T. Hughes in 1994 and her sons, Larry D. Hughes in 1994 and Ronald Hughes in 2008. Survivors include her son, Ernest T. Hughes (Mary); daughter, Celia Vance (Richard), brother, Hobert M. Spurling; sister, Carlene Dixon of Green Cove Springs; grandkids- Brenda (Ray) Holcomb, Sharon (Jose) Almeida, Larry Hughes, Tonya Spence, Hazel (Dan) Demchak, Dewayne Hughes, Doug Houser, Robbie Munson, Patty Kalinowski, Lauri Stark and many great grandkids and great, great grandkids.. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 am Friday, November 14, 2014 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel with Rev. Lloyd Dean and Rev. Jerry Dean officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation in the chapel from 8:30 am until service time. Interment will follow at 1:30 pm in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
