Robert “Bob” Lewis Kennedy passed away November 18, 2014 in the Moosehaven Life Care Center at the age of 83. He was born to Harvey and Eunice Kennedy on March 30, 1930 in Ada, Oklahoma. They moved to Sarasota, Florida where he graduated from Sarasota High School. Bob married Margaret Nalley Byrd on July 14, 1974. She preceded him in death on April 20, 1994. He married Betty Smith on March 8, 1997. She preceded him in death on June 17, 2010. He worked in small engine repair for the Villages in Lady Lake, Florida retiring in 1990. Bob was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Ocala, Florida. He and his late wife Betty helped to feed homeless people and also opened their home to others until they could no longer take care of themselves. He enjoyed fishing and bowling. He was on the bowling team at St. Paul’s Methodist Church and also the Moosehaven Bowling League. He was proud to be a member of the following organizations: Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1199, Silver Springs Shores Elks Lodge #2730, Sarasota Masonic Lodge #147 and Leesburg, FL Masonic Lodge #58. He was past master and charter member of Builders Lodge #376. He was also Monarch of Baya Grotto and Past President of Florida St. Grotto Association.
Bob became affiliated with the Loyal Order of Moose on June 28, 1994 when he joined the Silver Springs, Florida Lodge #1199. He came to Moosehaven with his wife, Betty on July 31, 2007 where he resided for 6 years. Services held Monday, November 24, 2014 at 2:00PM in the Moosehaven Chapel and will be conducted by Rev. Helen Taylor and Officers of Opportunity Lodge, followed by burial in the Moosehaven Mausoleum, Orange Park, Florida. He is survived by stepdaughter, Marsha Deluca of Ocala, Florida and 4 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and recently 1 great-great grandchild.
