Leland L. LeFever, 81, of Green Cove Springs, FL, passed away December 1, 2014. He was born on August 18, 1933 in Loup City, NE to parents Edwin and Carrie Heil LeFever. Mr. LeFever was a Vietnam War Veteran, retiring from the United States Air Force as a Tech. Sgt. after over 20 years of service to his country. He loved fishing, hunting and he holds the record for the largest rack buck killed in Clay County. Survivors include his wife, Opal M. LeFever; children, Jeannie, Rick and Dianna; brother, Glen LeFever; sisters, Louise Burke and Janet DeGedio; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and his beloved dog, Sambo. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Friday, December 5, 2014 at Black Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Register officiating. The family will receive friends in the church from 11:00 am until service time. Interment will follow in Penney Farms Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to Bailey Family Center for Caring Hospice, 200 Health Park Blvd., St. Augustine, FL 32086.
