David Lee Talbott, 79, passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2008. He was born in Virginia to parents, Eckard and Nellie Talbott on January 24, 1929 and had been a lifelong resident of Green Cove Springs. Mr. Talbott served as an Elder under his pastor and friend, Joe Barrie, at Living Waters Worship Center for nearly 18 years, and had previously served as a pastor for Grace Christian Ministries. He was a Day Lily Hybridizer and the owner of Dave’s Botanical Gardens. He won many national awards for his botanical achievements including the National Annie P. Giles Award and was a member of the American Hemerocallis Society. In the 1950’s and early 1960’s, he served as Justice of the Peace for Clay County. He also served as President of the Jacksonville Jaycees and was a lifetime member of the Merchants Association of Green Cove Springs. Mr. Talbott was preceded in death by his parents; and by his beloved wife of 55 years, Reba Talbott; and by a son, David Lee Talbott, II. Survivors include his daughter, Karen Ridaught Mears and her husband, Scott Mears; and three grandchildren, Rachael, Abigail, and David. Visitation will be held in the Broadus-Raines Chapel on Friday, November 14, 2008 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at Living Waters Worship Center on Saturday, November 15, 2008 at 1:00 pm officiated by Reverend Joe Barrie. Interment will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eric Delee, Alan Gillies, Harry Hunter, Tom Lepick, Robert Moldovanyi, James Peña, Sr., James Peña, Jr., and Chuck Stable. Honorary pallbearers will be Neil Britt, Ward Britt, Cliff Clifton, Craig Clifton, George Clifton, Lloyd Clifton, C.L. “Bud” Geiger, E.C. Rawls, Cliff Kirchof, Clifford Kirchof, Mark Kirchof, and Robert Rose. Flowers are appreciated, and memorial donations to Living Waters Worship Center for the Missions Offering are also appreciated.
