William H. Nobles, Sr.

William H. Nobles, Sr., 86, of Green Cove Springs, FL passed away December 30, 2014. He was born on March 25, 1928 in Nashville, GA to parents Roy and Ruth (Adams) Nobles. He had lived in Green Cove Springs since 1967 coming from Jacksonville. He had served honorably in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII. He was Baptist by faith and attended Hickory Grove Baptist Church. He was a former member of the BPOE and the Lions Club and was the owner/operator of Nobles Drive Services for 18 years. He had been acknowledged by the Governor for his service with the Council on Aging and was Senior Companion of the Year for the State of Florida. Mr. Nobles was predeceased by his parents; a daughter, Shirley Diane Proctor and a brother, Wayne Nobles. Survivors include his daughter, Bonnie (Edward) Cavin of Green Cove Springs and son Buddy (Tammy) Nobles, Jr. of Fitzgerald, GA; brother, Ferris (Gayle) Nobles of Hilliard, FL; sisters, Cora Crosby of Valdosta, GA, Betty Peterson of Nashville, GA, Frances Hagan of Ray City, GA, Marjorie Galloway of Arlington, TX and Hazel Morgan of Bainbridge Isl., WA; grandchildren, Lisa, Marti, Vanecia, Melanie, Adeline, Kasey, Kaleb, Kenly; great-grandchildren, Ashlee, Karlee, Caytee, Ryan, Kyle, C.J., Colby, Shelby and Garrett. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 5, 2015 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel. The family will receive friends beginning an hour prior to service time. Interment will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 6, 2015 in the Flat Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Nashville, GA. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Community Hospice of N.E.
