H.J. “Jack” Johnson, age 81, beloved Husband, Father and Papa passed peacefully on January 15, 2015 in Jacksonville, FL. Jack is survived by his wife of 58 years, Margaret, a daughter Cemma J. Tatem (Tim) of Savannah, GA, a daughter April L. Johnson of Jacksonville, FL, and two grandsons, Dr. Alexander J. Tatem (Sheena) of Indianapolis, IN, and Walker J. Tatem of Savannah, GA. Jack was born in Granby, MO, the oldest mining town in the southwest but spent most of his life in Jacksonville where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching NASCAR and spending time with family and friends. He was a sailor in the U.S. Navy on the USS Monongahela during the Korean conflict. He was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of Mandarin United Methodist Church for over 40 years. He retired from Southern Bell after 33 years and after retirement, managed the Mandarin Cemetery and worked as a contractor for Truvance Mgmt. He was predeceased by his parents and three brothers. Services will be held Tuesday, January 20th, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mandarin United Methodist Church, 11270 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32223.
