Cecil Lucius Williams

Cecil Lucius Williams, 88, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away January 19, 2015. He was born March 1, 1926 in Fitzgerald, Georgia and died peacefully in his home on the St. John’s River. He grew up in the Southside area of Jacksonville, Florida, with his parents, brother and sister, and graduated from Landon High School. On February 15, 1947, he married the love of his life, Betsy Markham, and they were happily married for almost 68 years and raised four children. Cecil retired as Vice-President and Assistant Branch Manager from the Federal Reserve Bank in Jacksonville. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillian Maude Cates Williams; father, Lucius L. Williams; brother, Welton Travis Williams; sister-in-law, Eugena Williams; brother-in-law, Christopher Moody. He is survived by his wife, Betsy Markham Williams; sister, Carolyn Williams Moody, son, Les Williams (Sandy); daughter, Janice Brown (Ron); daughter, Susan Parker (Randy); son, Gary Williams (Jackie); grandchildren, Lane Williams, Carly Williams, Lauren Lake, Emily Lake, Josh Williams, Jeff Williams, Kristin Waggoner and her fiancé David Johnson; Mason Parker, Kyle Parker and his fiancé, Kylene Krieger; great-grandchildren, Kyle Waggoner and Noah Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Special caregivers include his loving wife, Betsy, his son, Gary; and nurse, Ted Karas. A special thanks to the caring staff of Hospice, especially caregiver, Kirk DeVore. A memorial service, officiated by the Rev. Alan Liphart, will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, January 22, 2015 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel. Immediately afterwards, a reception will be held at the home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mayo Clinic for Cancer Research at www.philanthropy.mayoclinic.org/donate; or to Arlington Methodist Church, 1400 University Blvd. N., Jacksonville, FL 32211.
