Irene Collins

Irene Collins passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at the Moosehaven Life Care Center at the age of 101. She was born to Felix and Fanny Matheny on October 30, 1907 in Peoria, Illinois. Irene married Cecil J. Collins on November 24, 1926 in Granite City, Illinois. He preceded her in death on November 29, 1979. She worked off and on as a bookkeeper. They became affiliated with the Moose when Cecil joined the Lodge on July 27, 1947. Irene came to Moosehaven, January 17, 1989 where she resided for almost 20 years Earlier years at Moosehaven, she was a member of the Moosehaven choir and had a beautiful voice. She was also a good piano player and enjoyed being a part of the Moosehaven Kitchen Band. She was a beautiful lady who never looked or acted her age!
