Loraine Mary Belluomo Baroody, passed away on November 22, 2008. She fought a hard fight with cancer and went peacefully. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 3, 1938 and is survived by her children, daughter Eden Baroody Jordan and her husband Wayne, son, Adam Baroody and his wife Cathy, her grandchildren, Lillia Jordan and Ava Jordan; her sister, Virginia Belluomo Schaeffer of California and her brother William Belluomo of Michigan. Loraine lived in Grosse Pointe Michigan until she attended college at St. Mary’s in Columbus, Ohio. Then Loraine was selected to be one of the first Peace Corp Volunteers under the Kennedy administration. She lived in New York City and married Terrance Baroody while working for Pan Am Airlines. Then she moved to Princeton, New Jersey with her young family. In 1977 she and her family moved to Orange Park, Florida and started a family business manufacturing PVC patio furniture at Baroody Spence Inc. in the Orange Park industrial loop. Loraine had a heart and a passion for social work and volunteering. Later in life, she worked for Meals on Wheels, the division of Blind Services, the state of Florida helping people get nursing home services. She was a hard core Democrat and loved to gamble on the gambling boats and playing bridge with her friends. Loraine was on the Board of the Shepard’s Center in Orange Park, and was a founding member of Friends of the Fleming Island Library, and was a member of the Red Hats. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society. The family will receive friends from 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel with a funeral service beginning at 7:30 pm.
