Mary Ruth Curtis, age 72, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2008. She was born on December 14, 1935 in Louisville, KY to parents Mildred Garrison and Robert Alexander Kraft. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Bobby Kraft and one daughter, Judith Curtis Hinson mother to Ernie, Debra, and Philip Guest. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Robert C. Curtis, five children: Ruth Christine Dill and her husband Cdr. Ted A. Dill, USN ret., and their children Carey Atkins, Caleb and Joseph; Mike Curtis, father to Robin; Rob Curtis, Jr., his wife Kelly Murphy Curtis and their children, Lyndsay, Clay, Connor and Addie; Thomas Curtis, father to Joseph, TJ, Kyle, and Kirby and step-father to Natalie and Duncan; Kevin Curtis and his wife Robin and their children Rachel and Kathy; one sister Judy Wardrip and her family of Louisville, KY; and 16 great-grand children. Mary traveled with her husband throughout his army career raising their children in Germany, Virginia and Colorado Springs before retiring outside Denver, Colorado 20 years ago. She recently moved to Green Cove Springs to be near her daughter and family while she battled chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. She loved her family and always opened her heart and home for one more. She loved to crochet and work in her garden. She was greatly loved and will be deeply missed.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at Broadus-Raines Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, December 3, 2008 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel with Reverend Tim Hall officiating.
