Julius Edwin Knowles, Jr., 63, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away February 11, 2015. He was born on May 9, 1951 in Green Cove Springs, FL to parents Julius and Eva Austin Knowles, Sr. Mr. Knowles was a lifelong Florida resident and had worked as a heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and riding through the woods looking at nature. Mr. Knowles was a fan of NASCAR and the Florida Gators. He spent time as a little league coach for the Green Cove Springs Athletic Association and was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Harriet Knowles Smith and Margaret Knowles Taylor and brother, Charles “Buddy” Knowles. Survivors include the mother of his children, Letha Thorp; children, Christopher Knowles (Dolores), Carrie Knowles-Ramos (William) and Casey Knowles-Brown (Joshua); sisters, Betty Murrhee, Helen Rankin and Patricia Knowles Davidson; grandchildren, Komiko Knowles, William Ramos, Jr., Arianna Brown, Nevaeh Ramos and a grandchild on the way named Joshua Lee Brown, Jr.; a great-grandchild on the way named Kai Xavier McDonald and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to say a special thanks to Trinity Missions Center for all the care and support provided to their father. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, February 17, 2015 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until service time. Interment will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery.
