Catherine M. Akin

Catherine M. Akin, 75, of Orange Park, FL, passed away March 5, 2015. She was born on November 18, 1939 in Indianapolis, Indiana to parents Floyd Edward and Pauline Ethel (Hagemir) Marlnee. Catherine came to Orange Park from Virginia Beach in 1974, was of the Baptist faith and lived through God’s eyes. She loved playing bingo and would say, “Don’t call me late, just call me to bingo!” Catherine was known to all as “Mom”, always giving and asking for nothing in return. She has left to be with God and the angels but lives on in her family’s hearts and memories. Catherine is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 32 years, Charles and her siblings, Bud, Fred and Polly. She is survived by her son, Charles Akin; daughter, Cathy J. Akin; sisters, Nancy Tewell, Emily Allen, Rosemary Farrar and Susan Babineaux; grandchildren, Sean Akin, Robert Masten and Charles J. Masten; and great-grandchildren, Seirra Masten and Cameron Masten. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, March 14, 2015 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel with Mark Ravencamp officiating.
