James Gary Ackerson

James G. Ackerson, 74, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away at his home on May 18, 2015. He was born in St. Paul, MN on July 27, 1940 to the late Carl and Gertrude (Schadegg) Ackerson. He came to Jacksonville in 1994 from Charleston, SC, was of the Catholic faith and a retired Navy veteran. James was a member of the VFW, American Legion and absolutely LOVED golf and football. James is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Linda; daughter, Kimberly (Todd) Hedly; brother, Michael (Karen) Ackerson; 2 grandchildren, Meaghan and London; 3 great-grandchildren, Nathan, Emma and Abbey and 4 nephews, 1 niece and several great nephews and nieces. A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
