Dorothy "Dottie" LaVerne Wenzig Hall

Dorothy “Dottie” LaVerne Wenzig Hall, 91, passed away at home on July 1, 2015 surrounded by her immediate family. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA on September 11, 1923 to Frederick and Mary Wenzig, the second of ten children. She graduated from St. Martin’s School in Pittsburgh. On January 2, 1947 she married her sweetheart, ENS Richard “Dick” Hall, USN and thus began one of the most loving of all marriages. She is survived by Dick (LCDR, Ret); brothers and sisters, Charles Wenzig, Audrey Keady and Mary Ann Triscik, Warren Wenzig; daughters, Lynn (LCDR, Ret Roy) Suberly, Marian (William) Hackelton and Patricia (Brian) Donahue; grandchildren, Rebecca (Robert) Williams, Richard Brent (Lisa) Hackelton, LCOL Michael (MAJ Michelle) Suberly, USAF, Lauren (John) Aukeman, CAPT Megan Donahue (MAJ Paul) Hahn, USA, Caitlin (Steven) Sharpe and ATAN Blane Donahue, USN; five great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews. Dottie was a member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, the Venetia Garden Circle and the Officers’ Wives Bridge Club. She will be remembered as a loving Navy wife and mother, and office manager at Larmoyeux Clinic, Red Cross volunteer, Girl Scout Leader, golfer and an award winning bowler. The family would like to extend its appreciation to the staff at the Jacksonville Naval Air Station Hospital, St. Vincent’s Hospital and the Northeast Florida Community Hospice. A special thanks to Dr. Joseph McQuade, Dorothy’s family doctor for many years, and his wife Cathy. The family welcomes you to attend a celebration of her life on Sunday, July 12, 2015 at 1:00pm at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church on Blanding Blvd with Father Jose Kulathinal as celebrant. A reception will be held in the church hall immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to The Oakleaf Club, Jacksonville, Post Office Box 9736, Fleming Island, FL 32006.
