John S. Cornthwaite, 83, of St. Augustine, FL passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2009. Mr. Cornthwaite was born on September 16, 1925 in Baltimore, MD to parents John W. and Mable Cornthwaite. He moved to St. Augustine 20 years ago from Miami and was of the Lutheran faith. He honorably served his nation in The United States Army and was a World War II veteran. Later, he was owner/operator of an office supply company. Mr. Cornthwaite was a member of Cabul Lodge No. 116 F. & A.M. and also of the Morocco Shrine. Survivors include his beloved wife of fifty four years, Mildred J. Cornthwaite; son, John H. (Patty) Cornthwaite; brother, Robert H. Cornthwaite; and granddaughter, Bianca M. Cornthwaite. The family will receive friends in the Broadus-Raines Chapel on Monday, February 16, 2009 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm. Funeral services with Masonic Rites will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel officiated by Reverend Sam Jewell.
