Samuel F. Dadds, Jr., 84, of Lakeland, FL passed away on Friday, February 13, 2009 in Fleming Island, FL. Mr. Dadds was born to Samuel Sr. and Edna Dadds on August 19, 1924 in Wilmington, DE and was of the Lutheran faith. He honorably served his nation in The United States Army and was a veteran of World War II. Later, he owned and operated several construction supply companies; most recently was “Dad’s Carry Crete.” He married the love of his life, Betty Chance, on March 24, 1946 and they enjoyed sixty one years of marriage before she passed away in 2004. He was formerly a member of Kiwanis in Delaware and enjoyed woodworking and computers. Sam was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Chance Dadds; a daughter, Deloris Reed; a sister, Lillian Dadds; a brother, Richard Dadds; and a grandson, Anthony Bumbico. He is survived by eight children: Jeannette (Joe) Balinski of Wilmington, DE, Fay L. Covey of Milford, DE, Sami L. Houseman of Tehachapi, CA, Betty Ann Bumbico of Warren, OH, Judith (Ken) Dadds-Cutler of Newark, DE, Christine D. (Ron) Dill of Fleming Island, FL, Samuel F. Dadds, III of Glen Burnie, MD, and Louis J. Dadds of Lakeland, FL; siblings: Doris Lomas of Southfield MI, Earlene Kelter of Townsend DE, Joseph Riehm of Huntsville AL, Edward Riehm of Lewes DE, Elwood Riehm of Cape Coral FL, and Joan Dadds of CA; twenty seven grandchildren, and many great grandchildren, extended family and friends. Mr. Dadds will be interred with his wife Betty in Delaware Veteran's Memorial Cemetery at 10:00 am on Friday, March 27, 2009. Please sign the family's online guestbook at www.broadusraines.com.
