Charles Edward McGriff

Charles Edward McGriff, 75, passed away at his Fleming Island home on September 22, 2015. He was born on November 22, 1939 in Cullman, AL to parents Herbert and Dicie (Blair) McGriff. He was Catholic and had moved to the area in 1980 from Hawaii. Mr. McGriff retired from the U.S. Navy following 24 ½ years of service and the Orange Park Post Office after 21 years of service. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Dwaine, Junior, Roy and Billy, and sisters, Sue and Nell. Survivors include his wife, Sylvia N. McGriff; son, Douglas (Michelle) Kirk; daughter, Deborah; 2 children from a previous marriage, Shauna and Chuck McGriff; sister, Evelyn Case; grandchildren, Kavan and Kailash; several nieces, nephews and many friends. The family will receive friends at Broadus-Raines Funeral Home Friday, September 25, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 7190 U.S. 17, Fleming Island, FL 32003. The Rev. Donal Sullivan will be the celebrant and The Rev. Michael Pendergraft will be the con-celebrant. Mr. McGriff’s cremains will be placed at the Jacksonville National Cemetery on Friday, November 27, 2015 at 11:00 am.
