Charles Whitby Smith, Sr.

Charles Whitby Smith Sr., 87, born Midland Georgia, resided in Green Cove Springs FL. where he passed away to be with our Lord and Saviour Monday afternoon September 21, 2015 in the hospital. Charlie was born October 30, 1927 to his parents Walter Marion Smith and Mary Lucinda Smith (Duck) who preceded him with his 4 sisters. His youngest brother Paul Smith surviving him. Charlie and his wife loved to travel whenever possible. He loved the game of golf as he played till his passing. He was a passionate giver and server to the community being a member of several organizations such as the DeMolay’s, Shrine Club, Masonic lodge, Eastern Star, and Morocco Temple from years 1971 till 2015. He was a faithful servant to God attending his church home Pinewood Presbyterian Church in Middleburg FL. which he loved dearly. Married August 8, 1959 to Charlotte Ann Smith; they raised three surviving boys together. Their oldest son Charles W. Smith Jr. (Mandarin Fl.) gave them two grandchildren, their middle son Christopher A. Smith (Collinsville MS.) gave them six grandchildren and five great grant children and their youngest son Curtis T. Smith (Chandler, AZ) gave them one grandchild, all who loved him very much. Memorial services will be held at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32218 (904-766-5222) Friday, October 16, 2015 at 2:30 PM. Any and all donations can be directed to his favorite charity, the “building fund” at Pinewood Presbyterian, 198 Knight Box Rd., Middleburg, FL 32068.Please sign the family’s online guestbook at www.broadusraines.com.
