Loretta C. Boyett

October 22, 1937 — October 18, 2015

Loretta C. Boyett was born Alva Loretta Crane in Gastonia, NC on October 22, 1937 to Herman and Blanche Crane. She and her brother Michael Crane lived with her parents in Chattanooga until graduating from high school. After moving to FL, she met and fell in love with her husband of 52 years, Dave. They raised three boys and then added a daughter David (Roxy), Michael (Bobbie), and Steve (Lisa) as well as adding a daughter Susi (Darrell) along the way. The children gave them 30 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Loretta also leaves behind her brother Mike, many nieces and nephews as well as other family that she loved dearly. Loretta and Dave moved to Ft. Lauderdale where she taught in both Broward Public Schools and at Westminster Academy. Her computer programing team during her tenure at Taravella H.S. won three consecutive state programing championships. After moving to Clay County, she came out of retirement and taught at Orange Park High School. Then, she retired again to pen a Christian Mystery Novel titled Deadly Betrayal that was published in July of 2013. Her love for her Lord, Jesus Christ, flowed through her to her family, students and friends so freely that all who knew her felt it. She was a friend to all and a mentor to many. If you knew her and had a problem, she was always there to listen, encourage and point you to Christ. She lived her life knowing the peace, joy and contentment found in her Sovereign Lord, often saying “He is my daily portion and I choose to live one day at a time. “ Ceremony will be held Saturday, October 24th at Hibernia Baptist Church located at 7100 US-17, Fleming Island, FL 32003. The visitation will be held at 1:30pm, then a ceremony at 2:00pm, and a graveside service following at Jacksonville Memory Gardens in Orange Park, FL. Please sign the family’s online guestbook at www.broadusraines.com. Arrangements are under the care of Broadus-Raines Funeral Home, 501 Spring St., Green Cove Springs, FL 32043 (904) 284-4000.
