David J. Wooten

David Jerome Wooten passed away, Sunday, October 25, 2015 in the Moosehaven Life Care Center at the age of 82. He was born to Albert and Rosa Lee (Coward) Wooten on October 21, 1933 in Newport, North Carolina. He served in the US Army and was honorably discharged on May 31, 1960. David married Ms. Marjorie Proctor in 1951 and they had four children; David Jr., Donna Kay, Debbie and Janet. Marjorie passed away, April 5, 1995. He married Ms. Lena Ruth Vick on November 23, 2002. David and Ruth enjoyed dancing and Karaoke. They were very active in their home church, Oak Level Baptist Church in Rocky Mount, NC. He became affiliated with the Loyal Order of Moose on October 15, 1966 when he joined Rocky Mount, North Carolina Lodge #938. He received his Fellowship Degree on June 6, 2004. He retired from Abbott Laboratories as an HVAC Technician. Dave came to Moosehaven with his wife, Lena Ruth Wooten on January 12, 2015. Ruth preceded him in death on April 16, 2015. Funeral Services held Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at 10:00AM in the Moosehaven Chapel. Services conducted by Pastor Hoyle “Kip” Vinson of Oak Level Baptist Church, Rocky Mount, NC and Officers of Opportunity Lodge followed by internment in the Moosehaven Mausoleum. Dave is survived by his son, David Wooten, Jr. of Smithfield, North Carolina, three daughters, Donna Smith of Angier, North Carolina, Debbie (Eric) Bass of Louisburg, North Carolina, and Lynn Rose of Tarboro, North Carolina.
