Virginia Smith Hale, 84, of Green Cove Springs, FL, passed away November 2, 2015. She was born on December 20, 1930 in Perry, GA to the late Otis and Gladys (Grimsley) Smith. Mrs. Hale had worked as a bank clerk for Florida National Bank and moved to the Green Cove Springs area in 1973 from Jacksonville. She had been a member of the Northminster Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville as well as the Order of Eastern Star in Riverview and Daughters of the Nile. She loved her children, grandchildren and cooking. She will be dearly missed by her loving family and friends. Survivors include her husband, Raymond G. Hale; sons, Tommy Hale of Fernandina Beach, FL, Jimmy Hale (Missie) of Middleburg, FL, Sid Hale of Fernandina Beach, FL and Wesley Hale (Jackie) of Florahome, FL; daughter, Carole Hale Gardner (Mickey) of Middleburg, FL; sister, Rebecca Smith Thrower (Robert) of Jacksonville, FL; 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Thursday, November 5, 2015 at Broadus-Raines Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, November 6, 2015 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel with Rev. Tim Rigdon officiating. Interment will follow in Penney Farms Cemetery, Penney Farms, FL.
